Wanaka Studio
Intro
Wanaka Studio is the web-based AI-native 3D game engine of AI game platform Wanaka, which released version 1.0 on November 2, 2026. You describe a game idea in a sentence or pick a template; AI generates the project structure, characters, animations, textures and worlds; you then fine-tune in a visual 3D editor and publish with one click, sharing a browser link friends can play with no code and no download.
Wanaka was founded in May 2025 by ex-ByteDance entrepreneur Zhang Yang and has raised several million dollars from Jinqiu Fund, Old Friendship Fund, Ubiquant Ventures and others at a reported ~$50M valuation. The full product is pitched as a "CapCut + TikTok" for games: the web studio for creation, a mobile app for distribution and social play.
Explain
Key capabilities
- Idea to playable project: a creation agent walks you through building step by step; genres include racers, shooters, platformers, tower defense, puzzles, sims and multiplayer arenas.
- All-in-one asset generation: AI character creator, animation generator (rigged, looping motions), PBR textures and materials, and a World Builder for full environments.
- AI game team: helps plan, generate assets and audio, and even promote your game.
- Human/AI split: AI handles code, assets and animation; humans handle spatial layout, interaction and pacing. The founder says about 70% of creation can be done by AI, while scene building stays hands-on, "like building with LEGO."
- Social and remix: community games can be played and remixed; the mobile app turns photos of real objects into 3D characters for your games.
Version 1.0 claims
- Up to 5x faster creation than rivals at lower cost;
- Multiplayer, physics and sound built in;
- Claimed 4K 60fps visuals with cross-platform browser play.
Performance figures are company claims and have not been independently verified.
