Intro

Frameboy is World Labs’ real-time interactive demo for exploring its Atlas world model, released on 2026-11-05. Blog: https://www.worldlabs.ai/blog/atlas-realtime ; live demo: https://frameboy.worldlabs.ai .

Positioning: a highly optimized Atlas variant on cloud GPUs that streams frames to the browser as you drive the camera, at up to about 15 fps.

Highlights:

  • Atlas is an autoregressive world model that generates frames one at a time with pixel-perfect camera control;
  • Frameboy serves a variant tuned for the fastest, most efficient inference while keeping strong novel-view synthesis;
  • The same real-time path is integrated into Viewfinder (closed beta) as a streaming overlay after you build a scene frame-by-frame;
  • Worlds can be seeded from a single image, or navigated from multiview captures of real places (e.g., landmarks).

Explain

Problem

Waiting tens of seconds or minutes per clip forces cautious camera planning and slow iteration. Streaming frames interactively makes a “bad idea” nearly free — exploration replaces discrete generate-and-wait cycles.

Relation to RTFM / Atlas

  • World Labs previously previewed RTFM, a lightweight frame generator; Atlas scales those ideas with a much larger model and far more data;
  • Where RTFM leaned toward interpolating preexisting viewpoints, Atlas can expand scenes from a single image or text and improves multiview novel-view synthesis;
  • Frameboy revives the familiar browser real-time form factor on top of Atlas.

Limits

  • Still requires powerful cloud GPUs and is not cheap versus local rendering;
  • Viewfinder remains closed beta / waitlist;
  • Research-preview quality: frame rate and cost will move with hardware and model updates.

Usage

Who it's for

  • Creators, film scouts, game-level conceptors, and robotics sim researchers exploring imaginary or real 3D scenes interactively;
  • Developers watching world-model real-time inference demos in the browser;
  • Viewfinder testers who need a live streaming overlay on self-built scenes.

Getting started

  1. Read https://www.worldlabs.ai/blog/atlas-realtime ;
  2. Open https://frameboy.worldlabs.ai and navigate curated scenes with camera control;
  3. With Viewfinder access: build a scene frame-by-frame (color + depth), then trigger the Frameboy streaming overlay;
  4. Budget for cloud GPU cost and treat the demo as a research preview.
